Privacy Policy
Pull Presence is a Chrome extension that shows who else is viewing a GitHub pull request right now, and whether they are active or idle. It is operated by Alex Fu (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
When you sign in with GitHub
- Your GitHub account ID, username and avatar URL. We use them to show you to other people viewing the same pull request.
- GitHub access and refresh tokens for the Pull Presence GitHub App. The app asks only for read access to repository metadata and pull requests. We use the tokens solely to check whether you can see a repository before showing you who is viewing its pull requests. Tokens are encrypted (AES-GCM) before they are stored, are never sent to the extension or anyone else, and are deleted when you sign out.
While you view a pull request
- Presence: which pull request you have open, whether each of your tabs is active or idle, and whether you chose to be invisible. This is held in memory only while you are connected and is never written to storage. When you leave, it is gone.
- Other signed-in Pull Presence users who are viewing the same pull request see your username, avatar and active/idle status, unless you turn on invisible mode.
If you click “I’m interested” on a private repository
- Your GitHub account ID, the repository owner’s name (for example, an organization name) and the time. We use this to understand demand for private-repository support. We do not record the repository name.
Short-lived and technical data
- Whether you can access a given repository, cached for 10 minutes to limit requests to GitHub.
- A one-time sign-in state, kept for up to 10 minutes while you sign in.
- Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service.
Stored in your browser
- Your Pull Presence session token and your visible/invisible preference, in the extension’s local storage. Signing out removes the session.
What we don’t collect
We do not read or store pull request contents, code, comments, or any other page content. The extension runs on github.com pages only to detect when you are on a pull request; nothing is sent to us when you are not on one. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. It is shared only:
- with other Pull Presence users viewing the same pull request, as described above;
- with GitHub, to sign you in and check repository access;
- with Cloudflare, which hosts the service and stores its data;
- if required by law.
We use information only to provide Pull Presence’s features, never for unrelated purposes such as determining creditworthiness or lending.
Retention and deletion
- GitHub tokens are deleted when you sign out.
- Your GitHub account ID, username, avatar URL and any “I’m interested” records are kept until you ask us to delete them.
- To delete your data, email alexfu@fastmail.com from any address and include your GitHub username. We will delete your account record and everything linked to it.
- You can also revoke Pull Presence’s access at any time in GitHub under Settings → Applications.
Children
Pull Presence is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
